Blue Cross in Devon is reaching out to Devon’s pet lovers to find out just how obsessed we really are with our furry friends! Launching a nationwide survey – The Big Pet Census - people will be asked to reveal how they celebrate their pet’s Birthday, what they wish their dog would say to them if they could talk, and even if they share with a bed with their favourite companion, as well as much more. The survey will be open between 29 May – 7 July 2024 and can be accessed via https://www.bluecross.org.uk/census-press .

As part of the inaugural National Florist Day celebrations last weekend, local florist Tina Parkes director of the British Academy of Floral Art based in Dunchideock Barton near Exeter was named as one of the 2024 Faces of Floristry.

The Awards, which were by nomination only, saw winners selected by a panel of expert judges who not only considered the reason for the nomination but went on to investigate each nominee in depth before making their final selection.

The University of Exeter has been shortlisted for this year’s Multicultural Apprenticeships Awards as University of the Year, and nine Exeter apprentices have also received nominations.

OBE for CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust

When most people are making plans to hit the beach or take it easy, one intrepid group of volunteers from The Nayamba Trust are preparing to jet off to Zambia on Saturday (15 June) to lead a week of phonics, sport and PSHE in a small rural community.

The volunteers are all connected in some way to the East Devon-based charity and as well as giving of their time free of charge, they have raised the cost of their travel and expenses in keeping with the ethos of the Trust in sending 100% of donations raised to Zambia.
