Dementia UK shares the signs and symptoms of dementia to look out for ahead of free clinics in South West

Nationwide and Dementia UK’s free face-to-face clinics are returning to Nationwide’s Torquay, Plymouth and Exmouth branches this February, offering specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space for people to discuss any aspect of dementia.

Hosted by Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses, the clinics are open to anyone impacted by dementia, offering life-changing support to families and individuals in the area. Appointments can be booked via Dementia UK’s website here .

Exeter community choir makes a Big Noise for Pete's Dragons - and raises plenty of notes

A community choir was on song for suicide bereavement support charity Pete’s Dragons – boosting the cause to the tune of £1,760 with a pair of concerts.

The Exmouth-based charity - helping hundreds of people across Devon – is one close to the heart of the Big Noise Chorus.

Singers in the non-audition musical group, which has five choirs across the county, have experienced the loss of a loved-one to suicide.

New book launched on the excavation of Exeter’s Medieval Bridge

Exeter’s medieval bridge and its archaeological excavation in the 1970s is the subject of a new book that was launched today (Friday 1 March) in Exeter.

Community group launches Love Topsham Card to encourage people to shop locally

Topsham, the picturesque estuary town five miles from Exeter, has launched a donation scheme and discount card, to encourage residents to shop locally whilst raising money for year-round activities to promote the town.

The annual Love Topsham Card is available to anyone who makes a minimum donation of just £3 per month (or a one-off payment of £36), and its available to EX3 businesses who make a donation as well. RD&E comes third nationally in latest NHS Staff Survey

The RD&E has achieved one of the highest scores in the country in the latest NHS Staff Survey.

The trust came third in the country compared to other similar NHS trusts when staff were asked if they would recommend the organisation as a place to work or receive treatment - with 85.8% of staff recommending the RD&E.

The RD&E also came out in third place nationally on the survey’s overall staff engagement indicator, scoring 7.32 out of 10 compared to the national average of 7.0. This was a ‘significant improvement’ on last year’s score according to the NHS Staff...

White Stuff is excited to announce the opening of its new shop in Totnes on the 1st March.

The shop will stand at 57 High Street and will feature a mix of clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women as well as homeware.

Teenager launches project to keep the homeless warm in Exeter

A project in Exeter, organised by a 15-year old girl, is looking to raise money to purchase hot water bottles for the homeless in Exeter.

Sophie Clist who is 15 and is from Axminster, is looking to receive enough donations for at least 100 hot water bottles to give out to the homeless and displaced on the streets to keep them warm during the bitterly cold nights.
