Dartmoor National Park Authority elects new chair

Christow resident Pamela Woods has been elected chair of Dartmoor National Park Authority.

Her deputy, farmer Peter Harper, is also from the Teign Valley.

The appointments were made on Friday 14 June at the authority’s annual general meeting held at Parke, Bovey Tracey.

Ms Woods, a management consultant, has lived in the valley for almost three decades and served on the authority, in different guises, for five years.

Digital platforms boosts support for Armed Forces in the South West

A new website and film designed to provide support and training for those working with former service personnel in communities, has been launched. The website and film has been produced by a group of southwest councils as part of the South West Armed Forces Covenant Project.

New wildlife sound posts unveiled at Seaton Wetlands

Two new sound posts have been installed around Seaton Wetlands. Powered by solar energy, the posts play commentary and wildlife sounds to help visitors learn more about the reserve.

Currently, the post at Stafford Marsh has three Warblers bird calls and the Borrow Pit post has Kingfisher, Moorhen and Little Grebe. As the seasons change, the sound recordings will be updated, so look out for a new set of sounds and information in the autumn.
