Cranbrook to Host First eat:Festival Food and Drink Event

eat:Festivals will be hosting a food and drink festival in Cranbrook on Sunday 13 September 2026.

The festival will be happening in the heart of the town, on and surrounding the Tillhouse Road. eat:Festivals are a small social enterprise who have been delivering one day food and drink festivals in towns across the south-west for over 13 years. They are now accepting applications for all 2026 dates, including the Cranbrook one at www.eatfestivals.org/apply

We already become dependent on using various devices in our lives. Unfortunately, elderly isn’t technology friendly and they tend to avoid technical devices like smartphones and tablets. A grant from Postcode Local Trust has allowed Exeter Deaf Academy to create both a new sensory garden and an outdoor gym for the benefit of their students.

Dartmoor Rural Crime Initiative

Devon & Cornwall Police and Dartmoor National Park Authority are working closely with partners through the Dartmoor Rural Crime Initiative, an arrangement which was formally adopted on 25 October 2019.

A working group brought together by the partnership arrangement is focussing on issues that have been identified as areas of concern by local communities.

These are reducing antisocial behaviour and increasing safety around illegal raves, reducing incidents of speeding where animals are injured or killed, general road safety on the moor and fly tipping.

Honiton woman joins RAF Benevolent Fund to celebrate its centenary

Earlier this week, the daughter of an RAF pilot who was killed in a flying accident in 1998 joined the RAF Benevolent Fund to celebrate the charity’s 100th anniversary. It marked the occasion by hosting an afternoon tea at the RAF Club followed by a reception at St James’s Palace hosted by the charity’s President, His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent. IP Office steps up to support Exeter City’s rising young stars

Business communications company IP Office has affirmed its commitment to Exeter City Football Club in a new sponsorship deal to support the club’s academy.

The company, which has a head office in Exeter and branches in Bristol, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Cardiff and London, already sponsors the main stand at St James Park and has agreed to join Exeter City Supporters’ Trust in sponsoring the academy.

Plans for Community Playing Field Receive Boost

Plans by St Leonards Neighbourhood Association to maintain Mount Radford Lawn as a playing field were given a boost this week following a recommendation from the city council planning department to reject planning permission for housing on the site. After an application from local developer Burrington Estates to build seven luxury houses (including one with a basement cinema, gym and sauna) on the field in August, the planning department received over 200 letters of objection. Bikeability cycle training for 7,000 children in Devon

Bikeability cycle training will be provided to more than 7,000 children in Devon next year thanks to a successful bid by Devon County Council.

Devon is receiving a £280,000 grant through the initiative as part of the Government’s announcement of £13 million funding nationwide for next year’s programme.

Bikeability offers three levels of training, providing children with important cycling skills and confidence to help them cycle more safely and more often.
