Exeter Cathedral to Host City’s Largest Volunteer Fair

Exeter Community Initiatives is delighted to announce the return of the Exeter Volunteer Fair, taking place on Thursday 23 April 2026, 11am–2pm at Exeter Cathedral.

This free-to-attend, drop-in event will bring together 75 local charities and community organisations, offering residents the chance to explore hundreds of volunteering opportunities in one place. With over 800 people expected to attend, the fair is the largest volunteering event of its kind in Exeter.

Work to replace Alma Bridge progressing well

Work is progressing well on the scheme to develop a new footbridge to replace Alma Bridge in Sidmouth.

Contractor Mac Plant Construction Ltd has installed a temporary cofferdam in the River Sid. This has enabled work to get underway to stabilise and re-profile the cliff face to the eastern side of the river, ahead of the construction of the bridge abutment and wall.

A voluntary ban on the sale of energy drinks to under 16-year olds in Devon supermarkets has been found to be successful following a recent exercise.

The ‘mystery shopper’ exercise by Public Health Devon and Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards, tested how well large supermarket chains enforced the voluntary ban of energy drinks to under 16s.

Exeter Chiefs Foundation donates over £200,000 in the last year to Exeter charities

Over £200,000 has been donated to charities and organisations in the Exeter area in the last year, thanks to the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Since September 2018, the Foundation has given £223,428 to local organisations, community projects and the Exeter Chiefs Foundation's designated charities.
