Residents at RMBI Care Co. Home Cadogan Court in Exeter have been lost in music as part of BBC Music Day.

The residents, in their 80s and 90s, enjoyed a lively dance party organised by staff at the Home at the start of the week. Some got up and danced, while others just tapped their feet.

Later in the week, the tempo slowed with residents relaxing to the sound of local harpist Luc Walpot, who played a range of classical music to an enraptured audience.

BBC Music Day is the UK wide, annual celebration of the power of music to change lives, with two thousand events...

Professor Tim Lenton, Director of the Global Systems Institute, University of Exeter, said: “GW4 has already been instrumental in identifying that we’re now reaching dangerous climate change tipping points, such as...

The authority will now aim to reach a 70% reduction by 2030. The remainder of the carbon footprint will be...

Flamingos tickled pink by revamped exhibit

Flamingos at the Oakland Zoo are at their flamboyant best thanks to scientists at the University of Exeter.

Keepers at the Oakland Zoo in California wanted to know more about the activity of their flamingos because they seemed quiet and didn’t appear to be venturing into their pool very often.

The zoo called in Exeter flamingo expert Dr Paul Rose, who – along with psychology student Luke Jones – analysed the flamingos’ behaviour and suggested changes to their enclosure.

Now the birds are strutting and swimming – and one has even built a nest, despite the lack of...
