Ingenious aquarists at Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo and aquarium, have trained strange fish to help clean their tank of a naturally-occurring pest.

Filefish, or leatherjackets, have been introduced into the charity zoo’s large stingray tank to help control an invasive anemone.

iZettle and UN Women UK have partnered to support young people who are leading the charge for a more gender-equal future. Throughout March, students that are part of the UN Women UK Society at the University of Exeter will join the Trailblazer Takeover and run activities designed to raise awareness and funds for gender equality.

Just £25 could provide leadership development training for young women around the world, drastically improving their confidence and self-esteem, as well as an education about their rights, both in the workplace and beyond.

Overnight resurfacing planned on major route into Exeter

Overnight closures will be in place on a major route into Exeter starting later this month (March).

Essential resurfacing will get underway on the A3015 Honiton Road/Moor Lane roundabout on the night of Monday 16 March and will continue with night-time working until Friday 17 April.

Closures will be carried out on weekday evenings from 7pm-6am. In order to minimise disruption, part of the roundabout will remain open to traffic at all times during the overnight work.

Landmark in construction of Exeter’s pioneering Extra Care scheme

Councillors have celebrated the progress in constructing the UK’s first super energy efficient Extra Care scheme, which is on schedule to open in Exeter later this year.
