Terminal illness charity Marie Curie urgently needs volunteers in Exeter on Thursday (19th). The charity is asking locals to volunteer just two hours of their time for a local supermarket collection.

Lauren Peters, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Devon, said: “We urgently need people to help with a collection at Sainsburys on Alphington Road on Thursday 19th December. A collection can raise around £250 of vital funds, so we don’t want to miss out on the opportunity.

People who live in Devon and Cornwall may be getting a text message from the Environment Agency this week to let them know they have been automatically registered for free flood warnings.

People on the Vodafone mobile network who live in areas at risk of flooding across the South West of England will receive an automated text message informing them that they have been signed up. The message will include a link to let them know what they should do if they receive a flood warning, and the option to opt out.

Sourdough pizza pioneer, Franco Manca, has pledged to turn surplus dough into delicious fresh sourdough bread for those most in need this festive season and beyond. £1.25 million boost puts Exeter at cutting-edge of genomics

A new, state-of-the-art genome sequencing platform will put Exeter on the cutting edge of research into the genomic basis of health and disease.

Almost half of the south west of England fears they simply won’t have enough money to survive through retirement.

This is just one of the fears revealed by a new national survey on the future of pensions in the UK. The survey, which was commissioned on behalf of Manchester firm Expert Pension Claims , was conducted to 2000 people in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in July (2019).
