Gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities has played a pivotal role in connecting the new Nightingale Hospital in Exeter to the local gas network.

An eight-strong team from the company spent two days connecting the new supply to a purpose-built kiosk, which has allowed the 116-bed NHS Nightingale hospital to benefit from mains gas. The hospital, which has been built in an industrial area of the city, was created to care for Covid-19 patients, but is now being utilised for cancer patients who will start to be screened at the facility.

University of Exeter scientists have developed a revolutionary new device that could allow health professionals to test patients’ antibody response to COVID-19 in as little as seven minutes.

A picture by much-loved Plymouth artist Beryl Cook was the star of the show at Chilcotts first auction since lockdown measures were eased.

Signed in pencil by the artist, Angels sold for £440 and was bought by a local lady for her friend who works as a nurse in Cambridge. Chilcotts pledged the commission of £175 from the sale to the Honiton Hospital League of Friends.

Residents at RMBI Care Co. Home Cadogan Court, in Exeter, were overjoyed to be reunited with their loved ones this week after months without visitors.
