Public Consultation Opens on Proposed Merger Between Exeter College and Petroc

Exeter College and Petroc have today launched a public consultation on a proposed merger that would see two Devon colleges come together to form a new College Group.

If approved, the new organisation, the Exeter and North Devon Colleges Group (ENDC), would serve more than 16,000 learners across Devon, employ nearly 2,000 staff and have a combined turnover exceeding £100 million.

FORCE Cancer Charity shop reopens

The FORCE Cancer Charity shop in Heavitree has reopened for the first time in nearly three months.

The shop in Fore Street closed on March 23 due to the Coronavirus pandemic but the team has been working hard to get the building safe for staff and visitors.

And it paid off with a steady stream of customers throughout the first day.

Exeter Neighbours Celebrate with Lottery Win

Two people in Exeter are celebrating today after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Friernhay Street neighbours netted the windfall when EX4 3AR was announced as a Daily Prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Tuesday 16th June 2020.

Steroid cuts death risk in some hospitalised patients with COVID-19

A cheap and readily available steroid which was part of a nationwide COVID-19 trial that included patients in Exeter has been found to reduce the risk of dying in patients admitted to hospital with the virus.

The University of Exeter and the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) were collectively among 175 NHS hospitals signed up to the RECOVERY trial, coordinated nationally by Oxford University and delivered by the National Institute for Health Research, Clinical Research Network.

Timely donation for Citizens Advice Exeter

Teamwork was the keyword for fundraising by The Family Law Company which has just presented a donation of £1,000 to charity of the year, Citizen’s Advice Exeter.

It took teamwork to organise the fundraising events with the main activities, including a quiz held at Exeter’s Historic Guildhall in late 2019. This was well supported by teams from the local business community, raising £650. Further donations were received from teams taking part in a table tennis and pizza night held at the company’s Balliol offices.

Due to Covid-19 our library buildings have been closed since the 23rd March 2020 and our mobile library and home library service have been suspended. It has been an extraordinary time and we have rapidly adjusted to the situation.
