Team FORCE smash it at the 2026 Great West Run

Team FORCE has again pulled out all the stops at this year’s Great West Run.

Nearly 450 people ran either the half marathon or 10K around the streets of Exeter and beyond in Sunday’s sweltering heat to support FORCE Cancer Charity.

Between them they have raised more than £135,000 so far, which will support local people dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Chloe Richardson, event fundraiser for FORCE, said: “It was a great day and we are astounded by the support and love for FORCE from our runners.

Additional funding for child pedestrian safety training

Devon County Council’s successful child pedestrian safety training for primary schoolchildren has received additional funding from Vision Zero South West to continue through to March 2028.

“Walkability” child pedestrian training launched last year, and more than 4,070 pupils from 48 schools in Exeter, North Devon and the surrounding area have so far taken part in the current pilot, which is delivered by Active Devon on behalf of Devon County Council and funded by Vision Zero South West.

Stagecoach South West, part of the UK’s leading bus operator, is proud to recognise the quick thinking and compassion of one of its drivers, Ashton Worth , whose prompt response helped an injured passenger during an incident at the Exeter Bus Station on Friday, 10th October 2025 .

During the morning, an elderly passenger suffered a fall while making her way to a bus bay. The woman, who was unsteady on her feet, fell and hit her head, causing her glasses to break and resulting in a deep cut.

 A community-led arts project exploring freedom, creativity and connection will culminate in a final celebration at Exeter Library on Saturday 8th November 2025 at 11am to tie in with Remembrance Day.

Our Freedom: Then and Now is part of a nationwide programme marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, led by Future Arts Centres (FAC) in partnership with Libraries Connected and supported by Arts Council England. An Exeter church is embracing technology to tackle one of the biggest challenges for historic and community buildings - how to keep people warm while reducing carbon emissions.

St Boniface Church in Whipton is the first church in the UK to install a pioneering underfloor heating system that uses an innovative ‘groove-cutting’ method developed in the Netherlands.

Students at Ottery Primary School are set to enjoy more hands-on gardening activities thanks to the donation of a beautiful new potting shed from Otter Garden Centres .

The idea grew from discussions held during Otter’s 60 Good Deeds campaign, celebrating the company’s 60th anniversary in 2024. Otter first helped the school by replacing the wood on raised beds, providing a new pond liner, and installing a roof for the forest school firepit area, making outdoor learning possible all year round.
