The NHS in Devon has hosted the national team from health and social care champions Healthwatch England; an independent body, which uses patient feedback to improve standards of care.

The team, led by national Chair Sir Robert Francis, began their visit at Exeter Mosque, which has worked closely with the NHS to support worshippers to have their Covid-19 vaccination.

The Healthwatch team also visited Torbay Community Helpline and Hub, which has offered mental health support, referred people to foodbanks and offered financial advice to local people throughout the pandemic...

Councillors have approved proposals to make permanent changes to the layout of Magdalen Road in Exeter.

Temporary measures were introduced on the road in June 2020, along with other parts of the city and other communities in Devon, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, using funding from the government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund.

Devon County Council’s Cabinet has agreed recommendations to keep the one-way arrangements for vehicular traffic, with contraflow cycle lane and the widened footway on the northern side of the road.

The importance of Devon’s “Share this Space” campaign is being highlighted as part of Bike Week 2022 (6-12 June).

Devon County Council wants to encourage more people to cycle more often, and its Share this Space campaign aims to promote patience on the county’s roads, paths and multi-use trails.

People are being reminded of the following advice:

– Cyclists are asked to please pass walkers slowly and carefully, letting people know you’re there and giving them space;

– Dog walkers on shared paths are asked to keep dogs under close control on a short lead...

The Bowling Green , Exeter has raised around £5,000 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust through a ‘Big Shave; event. The pub is still accepting donations made in person at the pub and online through a JustGiving site.

The licensees, Nigel Cook and Saskia Russell were joined by Mike Knight, who lives in the area, and they all shaved their heads. Nigel also dyed his beard pink at the request of one of the guests to help raise further funds. The pub raised the money through an online JustGiving site, but also accepted money at the bar on the day.
