Second stage announced for TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham

An exclusive second stage is being added to Devon’s biggest music event this summer – with a host of extra artists joining the line-up.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham takes place across the weekend Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28 with headline shows from Teddy Swims , Alanis Morissette and Lewis Capaldi.

And now additional artists will take to the festival’s all-new Castle Green Stage , performing from 2.30pm each day as gates open as well as after each headline artist.

175 young people have been helped into employment, education and training with support from Youth Hub Devon .

Among them is Gabrielle, from Axminster, who couldn’t decide what career path to take. Working with Tilly Shoesmith, from ROC College, and Tom Moodey, from Youth Hub Devon , she has now gone back into education at Yeovil College.

Childline launches campaign to help children at risk of sexual exploitation

New analysis by the NSPCC of police recorded crime data reveals the number of crimes with an element of child sexual exploitation in the South West has almost tripled within the last year.

During 2021/22, a total of 3,866 crimes were recorded by Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Devon and Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset Police forces, compared to 1,383 offences in 2020/21*

In the same period in England and Wales, there were 17,486 crimes logged by police where children had been sexually exploited –an increase of 10% on the previous year.

Devon and Cornwall remains one of the safest places in the country, according to the latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) crime figures released on Thursday 27 October 2022.

The statistics reported that overall crime rose by 9.3 per cent in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly during the 12 months to 30 June 2022, which is lower than the national average rise of 12.5 per cent.

Similar to previously released statistics, a rise in crime during this period was expected as the figures are directly compared with the same months in 2020 and 2021 in which the country...

Appeal after police officer assaulted in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses after an officer was assaulted while on duty in Exeter in the early hours of this morning [Tuesday 25 October].

The incident happened in Bartholomew Terrace, near to the Catacombs area of the city, between midnight and 12.10am.

A male Police Sergeant was carrying out routine enquiries when he was assaulted and sustained choking and punch injuries.

He was checked over in hospital, has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.

Donkey hospital celebrates fifth anniversary with virtual tour 

Devon-based charity The Donkey Sanctuary is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its state-of-the-art donkey hospital.

Since 2017, the donkey hospital at the organisation’s Brookfield Farm near Honiton, has treated over 1500 donkeys, both inside and outside the charity, and has provided training to veterinary surgeons and students alike.
