Second stage announced for TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham

An exclusive second stage is being added to Devon’s biggest music event this summer – with a host of extra artists joining the line-up.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham takes place across the weekend Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28 with headline shows from Teddy Swims , Alanis Morissette and Lewis Capaldi.

And now additional artists will take to the festival’s all-new Castle Green Stage , performing from 2.30pm each day as gates open as well as after each headline artist.

Devon community group wins Community Heroes cash boost

An organisation that supports people in poverty in Exeter and Torquay has won a community award from leading builders merchant Selco.

Punk Against Poverty CIC has secured £500 worth of building materials through its Community Heroes campaign.

The organisation provides free school uniforms to children in need and will use the materials to help fix the roof at one of its two fundraising shops in Torbay.

Charities urge people in Devon to volunteer for UK’s biggest winter food drive

As food banks and frontline charities face up to their hardest Christmas ever, people in Devon can give the gift of their time by taking part in the UK’s biggest food donation drive.

The Tesco Food Collection is taking place in all Tesco stores from 1-3 December, and the Trussell Trust and FareShare are urging volunteers to sign up to support the event in store.

Exeter Service of Remembrance

Exeter will come together on Sunday 13 November to remember all those who have served and lost their lives as part of the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces as a result of conflict or terrorism.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Remembrance Sunday at the War Memorial in Northernhay Gardens. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is reminding the public to stay safe around bonfire night by avoiding bonfires and fireworks at home.

Exeter animal lovers raise over £55,000 for Battersea at Muddy Dog Challenge

Pet lovers in Exeter have raised over £55,000 by taking part in Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge - one of the UK’s biggest obstacle courses where members of the public can take part with their dog.

Stagecoach has announced that it has appointed Peter Knight to manage its bus operations in the south-west. Peter, who is currently Managing Director of Stagecoach Bluebird running bus and coach services across the north-east of Scotland, will take over as Managing Director of Stagecoach South West in December.

Safety improvement work at roundabout in Exeter

Work to introduce road safety improvements at a roundabout in Exeter is due to get underway next week.

Two raised pedestrian crossings are to be installed on the Sweetbrier Lane approaches to the roundabout which connects with Whipton Lane.
