Julian House and BCHA team-up to eliminate rough sleeping in Exeter for good

Julian House and BCHA have come together to form a ‘One Team’ approach aimed at ending rough sleeping in Exeter by the end of 2024. The Julian House Assertive Homeless Outreach Team and BCHA’s Housing First Team will co-locate and work together to prevent and end rough sleeping in the city.

Exeter Cathedral concert will raise funds for the people of Ukraine

A fundraising evening of songs and prayers for the people of Ukraine is taking place at Exeter Cathedral.

The Cathedral will welcome back Ukraine’s Word and Voice Theatre Centre for a special concert on Wednesday 18 January, at 7.30pm.

The concert, in association with the Devon Ukrainian Association and Maketank, with the support of Exeter City Council, is part of the Winter Celebrations which continue until the end of January.

Funding awarded to support active travel

Just over £580,000 has been awarded to Devon County Council to enable and encourage more people to walk and cycle.

The grant from the Active Travel Capability Fund is part of a national £32.9million investment to help accelerate walking and cycling schemes across the country and make roads safer for everyone.

Although the government funding cannot be used for the construction of infrastructure, it can go towards the design of walking and cycling routes which could be included in future bids to the Active Travel Fund.

Students across the University of Exeter have donated over £45,000 to the British Heart Foundation through its Moving On project, redirecting unwanted items that have been donated by university students leaving halls accommodation.

The Moving On project runs from May to September each academic year. Greens call for improved access to new bus station and leisure centre

Improved road crossings should be installed around Exeter’s new leisure centre and bus station, according to the Green Party.

Andy Ketchin, the party’s campaigner in Newtown and St Leonard’s, has called on the city and county councils to make changes to ensure the safety of people walking and cycling to and from St Sidwell’s Point, the bus station, Vue cinema and the job centre.
