As thousands of runners prepare to take on the Great West Run on May 24th, a local startup is ensuring they don’t spend the next week in pain.

Race Home , a specialist running and recovery brand founded in Exeter, has partnered with the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel to launch a high-tech "Recovery Pod." The pop-up sanctuary will offer "Pulsio Pro" compression technology—usually reserved for elite athletes—to local charity runners and club athletes alike.

A cafe in Exeter has become a regular meeting point for a rapidly expanding group of aspiring house and techno DJs.

So far Sunset Society cafe has hosted four successful community meet-ups giving new DJs the opportunity to spin their tunes on professional decks in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Quay bridge replacement 'not ruled out'

The wait to replace a well-known former bridge at Exeter’s quay is likely to go on after it was left off the city council’s proposed new budget.

The wooden Mallison Bridge, originally built in 1984 and named after a professor who left his money to the city, closed in 2018 because of safety concerns after its timbers rotted. It was torn down in 2020.

As a result, a small alleyway next to Commercial Road is currently the only way for pedestrians and cyclists to access the main part of the quay from the popular Cricklepit Suspension Bridge.

Stand by for military parade through Exeter city centre

Pomp and ceremony comes to Exeter on Saturday, as HMS Defender exercises its Freedom of the City by marching through the city centre.

The parade, which includes His Majesty’s Band of the Royal Marines, veterans and cadets, takes place at 12 noon on Saturday (11 February).

The UK’s Ambassador to Ukraine has described how learning modern languages can be a “gateway to the world” during a special event that reflected upon the way her degree has helped shape her career.
