Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

Road improvement works near Exeter Airport will boost East Devon’s economy

The £4.5m road enhancement scheme has been under construction for the past two years and was completed on 23rd February 2023.

The new access will help to boost East Devon’s economy, through provision of new jobs and opportunities for clean and inclusive growth. An innovative programme which uses the power of football to help prevent reoffending by prisoners has been delivered in HMP Exeter.

Cases of norovirus are rising across the country and local people are urged to take steps to prevent the spread.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is urging the public to help stop the spread of norovirus by not visiting if they have symptoms of the virus and washing their hands regularly if visiting a healthcare setting.

Aldi hits milestone of 30 million meals donated – with 442,000 meals donated in Devon

Aldi has officially donated 30 million meals to good causes since launching its food donations initiative in 2019, with 442,200 meals being donated to local communities in Devon.

In partnership with community giving platform Neighbourly, all of the supermarket’s stores in Devon are partnered with foodbanks, charities and community groups, who receive surplus food year-round.

As a result of the successful partnership, more than 4,000 good causes across the country have now benefitted from the scheme, including soup kitchens and children’s breakfast clubs.
