Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

Exeter City Council appoints Bindu Arjoon as its new chief executive

At an extraordinary council meeting on Monday [13 March], and following a recruitment process, councillors unanimously supported the appointment of current deputy CEO Bindu Arjoon.

She is the council’s first female chief executive and replaces Karime Hassan, who is leaving after a decade in charge.

Emergency, urgent and critical care will be prioritised by the NHS this week as strike action by junior doctors across England will see major disruption of services, with thousands of patients facing postponements to routine care.

University of Exeter student to run London Marathon for domestic abuse charity Refuge

A University of Exeter Business School student who as a child experienced controlling and coercive behaviour from a family member is running the London Marathon for the domestic abuse charity Refuge.

South Western Railway announces strike services for Thursday 16 and Saturday 18 March

SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) is urging customers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Thursday 16 and Saturday 18 March due to planned RMT industrial action.
