Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

Pulmonary fibrosis patients teamed up with clinicians and researchers for a Great West Run challenge in Exeter on Sunday.

Funding awarded to support walking and cycling routes

Walking and cycling schemes in the county have received a £2.1 million cash injection after Devon County Council secured Active Travel Funding from central government .

A number of priority active travel projects in Exeter, Newton Abbot, North Devon and Torridge will be supported with the funding to enable and encourage more people to walk and cycle.

Golfers at the Exeter Golf and Country Club have teed off a year of fundraising for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Men’s and ladies’ 2023-24 golf captains Geoff Fidler and Vicki Rogers have chosen the RD&E Charity as their charity of the year and hope to raise £20,000 to support the hospital’s oncology department.

The department treated Geoff for prostate cancer more than a decade ago, and again last year, when his cancer returned.

The first-ever Exeter Cocktail Week (EXECW) kicks off in under two weeks!

During the festival, which runs from May 31 to June 7, wristband holders will have access to special cocktail menus at participating venues. Each menu has at least one recipe for £5, with most venues creating a showcase (something that promoted a brand or local producer, Margoux has used honey made on the roof of the Princesshay shopping centre) and a no-alcohol option too.

Former Lord Mayor raises £21,450 for Exeter Dementia Action Alliance

A total of £21,450 has been raised by Exeter’s former Lord Mayor for the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance.

The five figure sum was collected by Cllr Yolonda Henson during her term as Lord Mayor of Exeter from May 2022 until May 2023.
