New McDonald's opens in Exeter

A brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Exeter opened on Wednesday 4th June.

Following significant investment from local Franchisee David Shawyer, the restaurant is open for dine-in, takeaway, Drive Thru, Click & Serve and McDelivery. Opening hours will be 6am – 11pm, seven days a week.

The new 104-seater restaurant has created around 132 new full and part-time jobs for the local community and features table service, self-ordering kiosks, a large outside patio area and a Drive Thru with Smart Digital Drive Thru menu boards.

Exeter City Football Club has developed a range of free activities for people of all ages to support them through the challenges brought about by the cost of living and energy crises.

The activities are all on offer through the club’s Extra Time Hub, which is based at the Grecian Centre at St James Park, offering a space for people to meet up, keep warm and take part in activity.

Exeter based company, Saunders Boston Architects, has today announced it has launched an innovative new sister company that will help build a greener future.

SB Sustainability will offer in-house advice on sustainability projects to new and existing clients, which was previously outsourced.

Exeter Cathedral concert will raise funds for the people of Ukraine

A fundraising evening of songs and prayers for the people of Ukraine is taking place at Exeter Cathedral.

The Cathedral will welcome back Ukraine’s Word and Voice Theatre Centre for a special concert on Wednesday 18 January, at 7.30pm.

Funding awarded to support active travel

Just over £580,000 has been awarded to Devon County Council to enable and encourage more people to walk and cycle.

The grant from the Active Travel Capability Fund is part of a national £32.9million investment to help accelerate walking and cycling schemes across the country and make roads safer for everyone.

Although the government funding cannot be used for the construction of infrastructure, it can go towards the design of walking and cycling routes which could be included in future bids to the Active Travel Fund.

Students across the University of Exeter have donated over £45,000 to the British Heart Foundation through its Moving On project, redirecting unwanted items that have been donated by university students leaving halls accommodation.

The Moving On project runs from May to September each academic year.
