Devon County Show Confirms 106,000 Visitors in Another Record-Breaking Year

The tickets have now been counted, and Devon County Show has officially confirmed an audited attendance of 106,000 visitors for 2026 — an uplift of 5,000 on last year’s record-breaking figure.

This year’s Show coincided with the late May half‑term break, a rare calendar alignment that contributed to an especially strong family turnout. While children go free on Saturday and therefore cannot be fully audited, the organisers witnessed a noticeably higher number of young visitors enjoying the attractions, activities and livestock displays.

Across all three days, the Show...

Water and Energy bills could continue to rise above inflation for at least another 17 years according to government watchdog, the National Audit Office (NAO).

The NAO predicts that bills will be pushed up due to plans to replace the UK’s aging infrastructure at a cost of £310 billion.

Two thirds of the £310bn is expected to come from the private sector which will ultimately be paid for from consumers’ water and energy bills.

The NAO has also said that the government has little idea of the impact the move will have on the average household or if the rise in bill will...

On average, the UK gets 33 days of snow fall or sleet a year Most of this is snow falling on higher ground where temperatures are lower.

UK Snow Facts • On 25 September 1895 snow was reported to have fallen at London and Wallington in Surrey making it the...

A special exhibition, organised by Michael Parrott, will take place at Exeter Guildhall between Monday 11 November and Saturday 16 November 2013.

The event will honour the members of 307 (Polish) Squadron RAF who protected the skies over Exeter during the Second World War and were described as Exeter's Guardian Angels.

During the Blitz of Exeter the outnumbered Polish crews fought bravely against their enemy and had it not been for their presence then the city would have suffered more devastation and almost certainly more people would have been killed. During the two...

Radio Exe opposes government enforced switch over

Exeter, Mid and East Devon’s commercial radio station 107.3FM Radio Exe is joining a coalition of radio groups to protest about the government’s plans to enforce a switchover from FM to DAB digital radio for the majority of radio stations in the UK. Unlike TV switchover, radio switchover does not form part of an internationally coordinated programme and will not unlock a taxpayer dividend from the sale of released spectrum. Fourteen years after the consumer launch of DAB, just 15% of local radio listening is currently to DAB digital radio – even though 90% of the population listen to radio...
