Devon Contract Waste (DCW) is excited to launch ReTech, a reuse service taking customers unwanted Laptop’s, Tablets and Smart phones, donating them to people experiencing hardship across Devon.

Devon’s countryside charity begins its 2023 search for young artists

The Devon branch of the countryside charity CPRE is looking for budding young artists who can capture the beauty and variety of the county’s natural landscapes, from its wild moorlands to its sheltered river valleys.

Young artists aged 18 and under have until the end of September to submit a painting, drawing, textile, collage, or mixed media artwork of a Devon view to win the coveted title of Devon’s Best Young Landscape Artist 2023. Tour de Barchester -  local care home workers take on charity cycling challenge

Cumberland Grange Care Home in Pinhoe was delighted to have been chosen as this starting point for this year’s Tour de Barchester. For the second year running, staff from Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and hospitals took on a gruelling cycling challenge this time from Exeter to Eastbourne and then on to Purley. Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) are calling for people to lace up their walking boots and take on the Incredible Hike in May 2024.

The charity’s Incredible Hike challenge is a guided 3-day walk from Friday 17 May to Sunday 19 May 2024, totalling 60 miles along the South West Coast Path from Minehead to Croyde.

Princesshay presents live screenings of Wimbledon alongside three family films

Princesshay is bringing Wimbledon to Exeter with live outdoor screenings of matches on a giant screen. The screen will be in Princesshay Square for the duration of the legendary two-week tournament (Monday 3rd July – Sunday 16th July 2023).

Breast Cancer Now awards funding to Exeter researchers to understand autistic adults’ experience of breast cancer

Autistic adults with breast cancer will be invited to share their experiences of diagnosis and treatment as part of a new research project funded by Breast Cancer Now.

The research and support charity has awarded funding of £173,189 to Dr Char Goodwin, Professor Manuela Barreto and Professor Ginny Russell at the University of Exeter. During this three-year study, the researchers will interview autistic adults who have had a breast cancer diagnosis about their experiences from diagnosis to finishing hospital treatment.
