UK households have made more than half a million (580,920)1 searches online for local tradespeople in the first half of this year and now new research reveals the most in demand trades in Exeter and the Southwest.

The study conducted by Compare Companies , which helps people find a tradesperson to compare prices for their home improvements, analysed search data online and found that plumbers are the most sought-after in the city and region.

UK households have made 110,000 searches for plumbers in 2023, which represents 19% of all online trade enquiries.

Archaeological dig at National Trust estate finds array of historical artefacts

Prehistoric flints, medieval pottery and a coin dating from the 13th century have been among the finds of an archaeological dig at a National Trust estate in East Devon.

A trove of historical relics dating as far back as the Bronze Age were unearthed by students and academics at the University of Exeter during their month-long investigation of Killerton, near Broadclyst.
