Local authorities fund Skills Bootcamps in HGV Driving to help get local people into work and support regional employers to secure the drivers they need

Insite (formerly HGVC), a leading HGV driver training specialist, is helping Devon County Council train 58 local people to become HGV drivers via locally run and funded Skills Bootcamps in HGV Driving.

Tickets now on sale for Devon Sports Awards

Tickets are now available for Devon's not-for-profit sports awards.

The Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards, in association with Active Devon, will once again be hosted at Sandy Park, the home of cup winning Premiership rugby team the Exeter Chiefs.

They will be hosted by BBC Spotlight's Jenny Walrond and the special guest will be medal winning British athlete Kriss Akabusi.

6000 chickens killed in Devon fire

6000 chickens have died as a result of a fire that took place earlier today at Perkins Village near Exeter.

Over six appliances from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were called to deal with the fire which occured at 10.34am.

As well as extinguishing the fire, crews did their best to move cattle and livestock to safety.

Unfortunately the incident left a chicken barn completely destroyed and resulted in the death of 6000 chickens.

It took firefighters an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of fire is accidental.

Police appeal for witnesses of robbery in Honiton high street

Banwell Antiques Ltd suffered a robbery today in which a large quantity of jewellery was stolen.

The offence took place at 9 am today (22nd March 2014). A female shop worker was attacked by a lone male suspect as she opened the store to start work.

The newly appointed flood recovery minister for Devon and Dorset has been visiting victims of the flooding in both counties earlier today.

Network rail have today released a new video of the lastest repairs to the Dawlish coastal track.

Taken by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) the short video shows how far the engineers have got since the track was destoyed on Febuary 3.

The UAV pans the entire operation bringing a e view of the staggering scale of the repair works.

The tarck is expected to be re-opened next month.

More than 350 men from Exeter, mid and east Devon enjoyed a walk, pasty and pint on Saturday March 15 to raise money for Hospiscare. Heading out from Sandy Park home of the Exeter Chiefs’, the men, completed the 10k sponsored walk with teams of dads, sons and friends. After walking the 10k route through the sunny Ludwell Valley the men headed back to Sandy Park Stadium to enjoy a pint and a pasty while watching three 6 Nation Rugby matches on big screens.
