Exeter Chief’s famous mascot Big Chief….in the shape of a cake will be joining the Lord Mayor of Exeter to officially open the new Oak Furniture Land store on Exeter Retail Park on Saturday 24th May, from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Buckfastleigh’s time-capsule tourist attraction, the Valiant Soldier, is putting on a unique local exhibition about World War One.

It opens at the end of May and features artefacts, photographs, information and personal memories. The exhibition will display items ranging from German, French and British helmets to cards and gifts sent to the troops from the people left at home.

Three Devon academies will need new financial sponsorship after the Department of Education (DfE) confirmed the closue of the Prospects Academy Trust. Speed restrictions on the A38 will remain in place this weekend as the Highways Agency prepare to close most of England’s roadworks for the bank holiday weekend. The Highways Agency says that works on the A38, near Haldon Hill, cannot be removed due to safety concerns caused by the removal of the road’s safety barrier to fit a contraflow. However, the agency believe that the delays caused by the road work will be “slight”.
