Seaton car park to stay open for summer

In an effort to minimise disruption during the summer season, project managers for Seaton Jurassic, the new visitor centre, have re-jigged the programme slightly to allow the road reconfiguration to take place alongside the site set-up.

This means the car park on The Underfleet can stay open throughout the main summer period This has been achieved without any change to the completion date which is still expected to be summer 2015 with a 'soft opening' in the autumn.

Cllr Ian Thomas, East Devon District Council's cabinet member for economy, said: "We've tried to be as...

Airport access road improvements

Work to upgrade the access road to Exeter International Airport is due to start on Tuesday 26 August.

The £1.4 million scheme will increase the width of the B3184, improving the link from the A30 to Exeter Airport and the nearby Exeter Airport Business Park.

The current narrow width of the road causes traffic congestion, particularly for larger vehicles and HGVs. Widening the existing layout will improve traffic visibility and increase safety for road users. It will also support growth of the airport and would enable the road to cope with any increase in vehicles.

City draw a blank at Burton

Exeter City’s wait for a first win of 2014/15 continued at the Pirelli Stadium, as Burton Albion – whose perfect start continued with a fourth win – were 1-0 victors.

It was a goal before the break by Stuart Beavons that ultimately made the difference on the scoreshee, volleying in from inside the area past an otherwise infallible Christy Pym.

Exeter exerted everything in the final throes and came close to snatching a late equaliser as Graham Cummins almost got onto a spill by a Jon McLaughlin, but it wasn’t to be for the Grecians.

After playing for 45 minutes...

UNISON is warning Devon County Council not to let the consultation responses it received on its proposals for the future of the library service to fall on deaf ears.

The union’s warning comes after the Council released figures last week on the number of people who took part in the consultation.

Andy Bowman, Branch Chair at UNISON Devon County Branch, said: “Whilst it’s great that thousands of people have responded, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that the response rate was so high because the people of Devon are seriously concerned about the Council’s proposals and...
