In July EX2 Group was proud to support Building Greater Exeter’s Work Experience Week, an inspiring initiative aimed at introducing Year 10 students to careers in the built environment.

NS(RAF)A SW Group show their respects for the military

Members of the South West Group of the National Service (Royal Air Force) Association took part in the recent Armed Forces Day parade in Exeter at which HRH The Princess Royal took the salute.

The event also celebrated the 350th Anniversary of the Royal Marines.

In the same month the veterans visited RAF Brize Norton where they were able to meet the airmen and airwomen of today and tour some of the RAF’s transport fleet.

Be a host family and earn up to £400 per month

A Devon-based company is on course for a record-breaking year with hundreds of students heading to Devon in the coming weeks.

As the World Cup reaches the next exciting stages, The Training Partnership Limited (TTPL) is welcoming over a hundred students and graduates from Germany, France, Italy and Spain, and close to 300 arrivals in total by the end of July.

More companies in Devon are partnering with TTPL to provide work placement opportunities, and more host families are needed to offer accommodation in Exeter, Torbay and across South Devon.

Flooding returns

It was only a few months ago that severe bad weather caused havoc in the South West. Today's heavy rain has resulted in flooding in certain areas of Devon, with the Met Office predicting more bad weather to come.

Firefighters were called to Kenton earlier today after the weather caused flooding inside a commericial property. Crews helped to remove the water to ensure it didn't come into contact with electricity.

The heavy rain fall has also resulted in travel disruption on the A381 Devon. The Western By-Pass is flooded in both directions between the Plymouth Road junction...

Woman treated for burns after Tiverton fire

A woman has been treated for burns after a kitchen at a property in Tiverton caught on fire.

Appliances from Tiverton, Bampton and Cullompton were mobilised by Fire Control to the incident, which took place at Lime Road, Tiverton earlier today.

On arrival, at 12.04, crews found a small fire within the ground floor kitchen involving electrical equipment out on arrival. The fire caused 10% damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to rest of the property.

Crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Man detained after police hunt

Police have detained a 60-year-old man in connection with yesterday’s incident in Widegates, Looe.

The man was located on land in Widegates by police officers shortly before 9.30pm on Friday 27 June. Two firearms were seized nearby.

He was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and will be taken into custody at Launceston police station.

He has first been taken to a local hospital for a medical assessment as a precaution.

Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the enquiry at this time.

Student's Rugby World Cup 2015 success

A lucky Exeter art student has won the opportunity of a lifetime – to design posters, adverts and a video to promote the three Rugby World Cup 2015 games being played at Sandy Park.

Robert Boyd, aged 19, of Newton Abbot had his designs picked by Exeter City Council ahead of others at Exeter College.

As part of the preparation for Exeter being a Host City for Rugby World Cup 2015, the City Council set a design brief for the students of Exeter College to design a poster to promote the three games being held in Exeter.

Horseracing fans looking to take advantage of 2-4-1 tickets for Monday fixtures at Newton Abbot Racecourse are reminded that the booking deadlines for July fixtures are fast approaching.
