Exeter charity issues urgent appeal for volunteers

A charity tackling hunger, loneliness, and food waste by providing free three-course community meals for those in need, is appealing for urgent help from Exeter residents, amid a ‘summer volunteering slump’.

Community dining charity FoodCycle needs to fill almost 10,000 volunteering slots to keep weekly community meals going at around 100 locations in England and Wales this summer.

Among them FoodCycle Exeter runs on Tuesdays at 6.30pm, at the Mint Methodist Church, and FoodCycle Exeter Beacon Heath runs on Thursdays 6.30pm, at Beacon Heath Church.

A Devon family support group has received the backing from a leading local housebuilder in the South West, Persimmon Homes.

The £5,000 donation comes through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which provides up to £750,000 every year to good causes across Great Britain.

Bikeability in Devon - 100,000 and counting!

More than 100,000 children in Devon have now received Bikeability cycle training.

The impressive milestone has been reached after 17 years of the scheme being run in the county by Devon County Council.

Charity reveals top five English counties with most netted animal reports

The RSPCA is renewing its warning about the dangers to wildlife of netting , after a little fox cub was strangled to death in a back garden football net.
