Police appeal following spate of burglaries

Police in Mid Devon are appealing for information following a number of house burglaries which may be connected. The first occurred sometime between Tuesday 30 September and Thursday 2 October at a property in Bramford Speke.

A garage at the property was entered and a ‘Karakoram’ mountain bike valued at £900 was stolen. Sometime on Tuesday 8 October a property at Three Horse Shoes, Cowley near Exeter was entered via an insecure front door whilst the occupant was in the rear garden.

Campaigners to take action against TTIP

Devon campaigners will take to the streets of Exeter tomorrow (Saturday 11 October) to raise awareness of the Government’s backing of a secretive trade deal, known as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

Residents in Devon are being invited to share their views on the County Council’s plans to make savings to its waste management service.

The changes, which could save the service around £265,000 next year, are part of the £100 million savings Devon County Council has to make by 2017 in response to spending reductions imposed by the Government.

A Planning for Emergencies Fair has been organised for residents of Mid Devon.

This is so that individuals and communities can plan should a major emergency event occur to them or in their community.

City council explains letter to residents

People in Exeter may receive a letter over the next few days from the City Council referring to a Fair Processing Notice.

The letters have been sent to everyone who has received a payment from the city council over the last six years.

A city council spokesman said that the letters were nothing to worry about and did not need to be acted upon.
