Year 7 students from West Exe School, part of the Ted Wragg Trust, have recorded a Christmas jingle to be played on East Devon Radio this festive season.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter has officially opened a new rehoming, advice and behaviour unit from national pet charity Blue Cross in the city.

Dogs, cats and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs will be cared for in foster homes whilst they are waiting to be matched to a new home by the team at the unit at Matford Park Road, Marsh Barton.

The team at the unit will offer rehoming, advice and behaviour services, as well as a pet food bank for owners struggling to cover the cost of feeding their pets.

Recycle your real Christmas tree to support your local hospice

Hospiscare have launched their annual Christmas Tree Recycling scheme to support end-of-life care across the heart of Devon.

On Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 January 2024, Hospiscare and a team of volunteers will be heading out in full force to collect and recycle Christmas trees in return for a donation to the local charity.

Collections will take place in Crediton, Exeter, Exmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary, with a recommended donation of £15 per tree.

Residents reminded ‘tip-tax’ changes don’t mean free-for-all

Devon residents are being reminded that changes to waste disposal charges in the new year do not mean a free-for-all at its tips.

The government is amending legislation so households can take small amounts of DIY-waste to local disposal centres for free, but restrictions will remain.

More than 65 road repair schemes in Devon are being brought forward with additional funding recently announced by Government.

Devon County Council is receiving an extra £6.663 million for highway maintenance this financial year.

The money is a share of the Government’s £8.3 billion investment in roads over the next 11 years using funds redirected from the cancelled HS2 rail line extension to Manchester.
