Seeking station 'friends' in Exeter

Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership and First Great Western are working together to improve Exeter St Thomas station and are looking for local residents to join in this improvement drive.

The Friends of Exeter St Thomas Station will help plan murals for the station platform walls and some greenery on the platforms and get involved in planting and watering.

Exeter University receives £2m towards future of science

The University of Exeter has received a £2 million gift from The Wolfson Foundation to support the establishment of a new Living Systems Institute, which will pioneer a new approach to treating the world’s most serious diseases.

The gift is the largest award made by The Wolfson Foundation in 2014 and constitutes the latest milestone in a long history of key contributions from the charity towards the advancement of science at Exeter.

£1,000 available to Exeter care homes

Having already donated materials to a charity, sports club, school and community group, RGB Building Supplies is delighted to offer one more £1,000 building materials grant, this time for care and nursing homes.

Snow, heavy rain and gales set to hit Devon

The Met Office has issued three weather warnings as snow, strong winds and heavy rain are expected to hit the region this week.

Exeter women are being urged to fight dirty when it comes to conquering cancer - by signing up now for an exciting new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

The city has been chosen to host one of just two Race for Life Pretty Muddy events taking place in the South West this summer.

New waste policies for developers

Devon County Council is preparing guidance on the implementation of the county’s new Waste Plan.

Following adoption of the Waste Plan in December, it now forms part of the Development Plan for Devon and is to be considered when determining all planning applications in the county.
