Cranbrook to Host First eat:Festival Food and Drink Event

eat:Festivals will be hosting a food and drink festival in Cranbrook on Sunday 13 September 2026.

The festival will be happening in the heart of the town, on and surrounding the Tillhouse Road. eat:Festivals are a small social enterprise who have been delivering one day food and drink festivals in towns across the south-west for over 13 years. Cash boost for young entrepreneurs

Devon County Council has awarded £113,000 worth of funding to Schools across Devon through its Enterprise in Schools Grant programme to help encourage entrepreneurship.

The programme is designed to help Devon’s schools create or expand educational opportunities within the areas of enterprise and innovation for both pupils and staff, and is informed by the ‘Enterprise for All’ report.

It will enable schools to provide a better balance between education and skills for employment and aims to equip young people with the motivation and confidence to work for themselves.

Plea after pensioner seriously hurt in crash

An 87-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being in collision with a lorry in Exeter yesterday (19 January).

Police and emergency services were called to Topsham Road around 1.15pm after the elderly pedestrian was in collision with the HGV.

The woman, from Exeter, sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The driver of the 18-tonne truck, a 43-year-old man, was interviewed by police and has been released while police enquiries continue into the circumstances of the incident.

Chef Robin Rea has installed a pizza oven at the popular Yonder Street restaurant to provide diners with a delicious alternative to his artisan fare.

“Each pizza will be freshly made using locally-sourced ingredients, as with all the food we prepare,” explained Robin.

Visitors to Rugby World Cup 2015 will be greeted with world class customer service from businesses in Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Exeter is hosting three rugby matches at Sandy Park in September and October, attracting international and VIP visitors to Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Exeter Golf and Country Club has secured funding from Charles Church, part of the Persimmon Group, towards the redesign of its golf course. The deal comes after two years of negotiations between the Club and housebuilder over how to ensure the safety of residents of Great Woodcote Park, a new housing development being built next to the golf course. With 26 Parish and Town Council projects funded in 2013-2014, the Parishes Together Fund is looking to allocate more money to local community initiatives.

For the third year running, East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Devon County Council (DCC) are inviting Town and Parish Councils to apply to their joint initiative – the Parishes Together Fund – for grants towards projects that will solve local community issues.
