Darts Farm celebrates 55 years with Summer Festival

Darts Farm is celebrating a remarkable milestone - 55 years since of ‘Darts Farm’ and they are celebrating with a three-day Summer Festival from 12th to 14th June 2026.

The long weekend community celebrations include live music, from legendary local band Mad Dog Mcrea and The Luke Combs Experience, with a vibrant line-up of local talent.

Did you witness East Devon burglary?

A burglary took place at a bed and breakfast on Charmouth Road near the Hunters Lodge Pub just outside Axminster between 3.15-5.45pm on Monday 6th April.

Cash has been taken from the property, and police are hoping that someone witnessed the break-in or saw something suspicious.

Detective Constable Matthew Burnell, said: “At the time the A35 was closed which meant that the queue of Bank Holiday traffic tailed back past the affected address.

Due to the overwhelming success of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund, the builders' merchant is delighted to announce that they are relaunching it and will be giving away a further £1,000 worth of building materials every other month until March next year.

Having made donations to a charity, a sports club, school, community group and care home last year, RGB will be calling out for different deserving groups to make contact with them this year and tell them how they can help.

Busy spring for countryside rangers

Rangers from East Devon District Council’s Countryside team have been out and about over recent weeks sharing their knowledge with visitors to Bicton College and Cranbrook. Devon has smashed the record for the number of new businesses launched in the area in a single year, according to new research. Statistics, compiled by www.informdirect.co.uk , have revealed that there were 5,501 companies formed in 2014, up from a previous best of 5,280. Exeter vets pioneer stem cell treatment

CityVets, a Veterinary Practice in Exeter, is using pioneering Adipose Stem Cell treatment on a four year old Siamese cat called Pharaoh who has been diagnosed with a previously untreatable disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

Using Adipose stem cell therapy, a relatively new treatment that CityVets has been using for chronic arthritis in dogs, Veterinary Surgeon Ed Pattison has adapted this technique using Pharaoh’s own fat cells to create unique stem cells that are used in an attempt to stop the progression of FIP and prolong his life.

A housing officer at East Devon District Council will be running her first marathon later this month – and has chosen the gruelling London race for her initial outing.

Amy Gilbert, Support Services Manager, has run several half marathons, but has never before run in a full marathon. She is running in aid of Mencap, a charity that is dear to her heart as she has a younger sister who has severe mental and physical disabilities.

She aims to have at least £3,000 collected or pledged before she joins the other 40,000 or so runners in London on race day – Sunday 26 April....
