Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Nearly 99 per cent of Devon children get preferred primary place

Nearly 99 per cent of Devon children have been offered a place at one of their chosen primary schools for this September.

Over 94 per cent of the families who applied to Devon County Council have been offered their first choice school.

And 98.5 per cent of applicants were offered one of their three preferences – 3.6 per cent were offered their second preference and 0.7 per cent their third preference.

In all 7,803 applications for a primary place were received compared to 7,600 at this time last year.

Wurzels to headline Devon County Show

Westcountry icons The Wurzels will be performing at the Devon County Show for the first time, entertaining exhibitors and invited guests at an exclusive event on the first day of the show.

Leading Devon law firm Stephens Scown LLP has teamed up with the Devon County Show to bring The Wurzels to the Westpoint showground. Exeter-based Pennon Group has expanded after acquiring Bournemouth Water for £100.3million.

Pennon Group Plc owns South West Water Limited and Taunton-based Viridor Limited. The Group has assets of around £5 billion and a workforce of around 4,500 people. Bournemouth Water is a water-only company serving a population of 437,600 people in an area of more than 1,000 square kilometres, including Bournemouth, Wimborne, the New Forest, Lymington and the Fawley oil refinery on the Solent. The Green Party has launched its General Election Manifesto, ‘For the Common Good’.

Greens say the manifesto, which can be found here , sets out a bold, ambitious plan for a fairer society and safer planet and there is a strong emphasis on commitments to restoring and extending public services and tackling climate change.

Stephen takes on marathon in memory of baby daughter

On 26 April 2015 bereaved father, Stephen Hunt, will be pounding the streets of the capital in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon as part of Team Sands.

Dom Morris, Exeter's Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, has announced the first step of his “100 days of action” campaign to tackle one of Exeter’s biggest problems – homelessness.
