Exeter charity issues urgent appeal for volunteers

A charity tackling hunger, loneliness, and food waste by providing free three-course community meals for those in need, is appealing for urgent help from Exeter residents, amid a ‘summer volunteering slump’.

Community dining charity FoodCycle needs to fill almost 10,000 volunteering slots to keep weekly community meals going at around 100 locations in England and Wales this summer.

Among them FoodCycle Exeter runs on Tuesdays at 6.30pm, at the Mint Methodist Church, and FoodCycle Exeter Beacon Heath runs on Thursdays 6.30pm, at Beacon Heath Church.

Exeter Airport is celebrating a top ranking from the Civil Aviation Authority for the quality of customer service it provides to disabled and less mobile passengers.

The CAA's annual Airport Accessibility Report, published on Thursday (21 July), assesses 26 of the UK's largest airports and ranks Exeter as 'very good', the highest rating. Exeter's sister airports at Bournemouth and Norwich achieved the same rating.

Emily celebrates becoming the third generation of her family to graduate from the University of Exeter

When Emily Simons graduated from the University of Exeter she was following what has become a unintended family tradition - following in the footsteps of both her mother and grandfather.

Emily is the third generation of her family to graduate from the university. Her late grandfather Christopher Webb secured a degree in maths, physics and chemistry in 1960 while her mother Heather Simons graduated with a mathematics degree in 1992.

National Trust’s Killerton conserves Grade I listed chapel 

The National Trust’s Killerton, near Exeter, has begun an extensive interventive conservation plan to repair the historic chapel. The Chapel of the Holy Evangelists at Killerton was built in 1841 at the request of Sir Thomas Acland, 10th Baronet.

Leading construction industry supplier TIMCO is touring RGB Building Supplies’ branches giving advice and demonstrations to those working in the trades and property owners, and will be at the Exeter depot on Monday 24th July.
