Overnight closures planned for Fore Street in Heavitree

Overnight resurfacing work will be carried out in Fore Street, Heavitree, for six nights at the start of next month.

The road will be closed from 9pm until 7am each night from Monday 2 October until Friday 6 October and then again on the evening of Monday 9 October.

The scheme, on the section of Fore Street between the junctions with Whipton Lane and North Street, has been scheduled to take place at night in order to reduce disruption to road users. Fore Street will be fully open during daytime hours.

Impact of flash floods being examined

More than 140 properties are thought to have been flooded across Devon during Sunday’s flash floods.

The initial estimate has been gathered by the Environment Agency, Devon County Council’s Flood Risk Management team and local city and district council officers as part of the flood recovery operation.

Officers have been on the ground visiting the worst affected areas to investigate the extent of the damage caused by the torrential rainfall. City and district authority “street scene” teams have also been clearing debris from affected areas.

A student who fled war-torn Ukraine before embarking on her studies at the University of Exeter Business School has been nominated for the AMBA Student of the Year Award 2024.

Kateryna Halkina was nominated for the award by her tutors on The Exeter MBA, who described her as someone who stands out for “exemplifying exceptional leadership, strong teamwork, goal-orientation and innovative thinking”.
