East Devon District Council has begun consulting with parish and town councils, as well as people who have commented previously on the Local Plan, on the proposed criteria that will guide its definition of Built Up Area Boundaries (BUABs) for 17 East Devon villages.

BUABs provide a dividing line between areas of ‘countryside’ where development can only take place in specified exceptional circumstances and a settlement with a good range of services and facilities where subject to various criteria development will be permitted. They appear as black lines on maps and are a common form...

And they called it Puppy Love…

Exeter is officially the home of the UK’s pet lovers, according to data released by Bark.com , the free online platform for finding professional services.

In a study of nationwide spending habits from Bark.com, just over a quarter of requests made in Exeter and the surrounding areas were for pet-related services, including pet sitting and grooming.

Also included within this were dog walking and dog training, illustrating that people of Exeter are prepared to pay for the well-being of their pets, making it the home for pampered puppies (and cats, birds, etc).

So, it is reassuring to hear of the tremendous efforts being made by Buckfast Abbey’s beekeepers to help buck this trend, through nurturing their own bee populations as well as encouraging more beekeepers-in-the making.
