A Devon-based boat club says more people across Devon are turning away from traditional ownership in favour of flexible memberships that offer access to the sea without the expense and upkeep of owning a vessel.

Freedom Boat Club, which operates from Beacon Quay in Torquay Harbour, has reported growing interest as rising maintenance costs, storage fees and insurance bills make private boat ownership increasingly expensive for many households.

Cranbrook calls for volunteers

An exciting series of events is being planned in Cranbrook this year with the aim of supporting residents to be more active and helping the town to celebrate its 13-year anniversary.

The events are being planned by Move More Cranbrook, the Sport England supported programme that aims to help residents in the town to lead more active lives.

A University of Exeter student has penned a heartwarming emotional tribute to his mother, who died from a rare cancer when he was just 14 years old.

Sean Tilson, 20, a second-year Business Management student at the University of Exeter, lost his mother to metastatic spindle cell sarcoma six years ago. Devon & Cornwall Police have seen a rise in illegal vapes, where the vape liquid has been replaced with Class B drugs THC (the active compound in cannabis) and spice (a synthetic cannabinoid). Due to the levels of these controlled substances in the vapes being unknown, the risks to teenagers taking these substances present health risks which are uncertain and have led to hospitalisations in other parts of the country.

Crowdfunder and the RSPCA have teamed up to launch #EveryoneForEveryAnimal, a new campaign to create a better world for every animal.

Nearly 60 RSPCA branches across England and Wales have launched their own fundraisers to raise money for their own animal welfare projects in their own communities. Chicken lovers queued for over 16 hours for the much-anticipated opening of the new Popeyes ® Exeter restaurant on the High Street yesterday morning.
