As the Bank Holiday weekend approaches South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is expecting a busy weekend across the region and is urging drivers to take extra care on the roads.

An influx of visitors is expected to descend on the South West’s tourist spots this weekend, especially as it is the last weekend for families to enjoy a break before schools begin the new autumn term.

The newly formed Hospiscare Choir will be making its first public appearance at the Rugby World Cup Fanzone in Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens.

The choir will be singing on October 17 at 2pm before the first quarter final which will be broadcast live on a giant screen.

Vital work needs to be carried out on trees overhanging the railway line at Flowerpot Fields, the City Council has been told.

Network Rail approached the City Council, as trains were clipping the ends of some overhanging branches and the foliage was also causing sight problems for the drivers.

Work, involving the pollarding, crown removal and some felling of the trees to the rear of the car park off Flowerpot Lane will be carried out over a two-week period in September. The car park will need to be partially closed while the work is carried out.
