New report reveals UK's happiest places to be a dog

Exeter comes 9th in Dogs Trust's Happy Place Index, but we all have room for improvement

For dogs, a happy place can be somewhere physical, like cuddling up next to their owner on the sofa, dozing by the fire or rolling around in a muddy puddle. But it can also be a feeling, like the excitement of a new toy, the comfort of being with their favourite humans, or the relief of just being somewhere safe.

To examine the various factors that contribute to a dog's satisfaction, an academic has developed a new formula – the Canine Happiness Score (CHS).

Christmas lecture unwraps the science behind light

Families from across the South West are invited to take part in an enlightening festive treat, at a special event hosted by the University of Exeter.

Smart Transport project to reduce traffic congestion in Exeter unveiled

Cutting edge research and technology will be used to trial new ways to tackle Exeter's traffic problems and alleviate congestion as the City grows over the next nine years.

Exeter is expected to grow by 12,000 new homes and 60 hectares of new business land by 2026, putting more pressure on the City’s already congested road network.

To deal with the problem, Devon County Council and Exeter City Council have joined forces with a business and academic group led by global IT services provider NTT DATA to unveil the pioneering Engaged Smart Transport project.

Professor Sir Steve Smith has joined a high-profile delegation visiting India this week to promote UK Higher Education.

England Rugby player and Exeter Chief’s star Jack Nowell has been announced as the new patron of road safety initiative the Honest Truth.

Motorcyclist seriously injured in A380 crash

Police in Exeter are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision near Haldon.

The collision involving a single vehicle, a black Triumph R675cc motor cycle occurred just before 6.00pm on Tuesday 8th December on the A380 at Great Haldon.

The collision occurred on the A380 (B) carriageway just passed the permanent static speed camera location between the Ashcombe Cross and Great Haldon junction.

It would appear that the motorcyclist travelling towards Exeter collided with the central barrier and came to rest in lane two on its offside....

A step closer to devolution deal at East Devon

Further discussions on an ambitious bid to devolve power from Whitehall to local authorities in Devon and Somerset will be held in East Devon next week.
