Devon County Show launches first‑ever Community Growing Hub

The Devon County Show is proud to announce the launch of its first‑ever Community Growing Hub, a major new feature for 2026 designed to inspire visitors of all ages to get growing, get gardening, and get connected. The Hub will be hosted by horticulturalist and community growing advocate Kenny Raybould, who will lead a team of volunteers offering hands‑on advice, and practical support throughout the three‑day show.

Stagecoach cuts the cost for youngsters

Thousands of young people across Devon are to benefit from a new offer by Stagecoach South West that will help cut the cost of their bus travel.

For a 5 week period (23 January to 29 February 2016) the bus company will slash the cost of existing child Dayrider tickets in Exeter, Plymouth and Dartmouth to just £2 whilst also introducing new £2 child Dayriders for their Exmouth, Newton Abbot and Barnstaple ticket zones.

SUNDAY: Sidney Ellis has been found, safe and well. Police thank everyone for their help.

Police are concerned for the welfare of 73-year-old Sidney Ellis, who is missing from the Kingsbridge area of Devon.

It is believed that Mr Ellis may be in the North Devon area having driven to the location in his Silver coloured Peugeot 207 5 door hatchback registration number KR11KNL.

It is possible that he is no longer with his vehicle.

Three jailed for drugs offences

Three men have been jailed at Exeter Crown Court today (22nd January) for a total of seven years for the production and supply of cannabis in Devon and Somerset.

Altin Laska, 27, from Exmouth, Mircea Rusu, 24, from Exeter, and Nicolae Pasc, 25, from Exeter, pleaded guilty to committing drugs offences between 1 January 2015 and 20 August 2015 following an operation run by Zephyr.

Pictured left to right, Laska was sentenced to five years in prison, with Rusu and Pasc both receiving twelve month sentences.

Concert debut for cathedral’s new choirmaster

Exeter Cathedral’s new Director of Music is looking forward to leading his choristers in concert for the first time since taking up the baton.

British organist and conductor Timothy Noon, who returned to the UK earlier this year to take up the post following a period of work in New Zealand, will direct the renowned Cathedral Choir in a special candlelit performance next month.

Exeter Food Bank at St James' Park

Exeter City FC is proud to support the Exeter Food Bank and has a permanent collection point in Reception, which is emptied regularly.

Just after Christmas we delivered three very large, and heavy bags, to Exeter Food Bank's storage site... Thank you to everyone who contributes to this charity.

We will be collecting food donations on the Trust Stall this Saturday before our match against Accrington.

Items always needed are tins of soup, meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. Also pasta, rice, noodles, biscuits, as well as toiletries...toothpaste, soap, loo rolls, etc....

The Governors of Exeter College are pleased to announce that they have appointed John Laramy as the new Principal at the College.

John is currently the Vice Principal at Exeter College and will take up the post on 1st April 2016.

At least 100 foster carers are urgently needed in Devon to help ensure children receive the best start in life.

Fostering Devon, Devon County Council’s fostering service, has launched a new carer recruitment drive to increase the number of foster carers.

Leading local advice charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, has published its advice trend statistics for the period 1 April – 31 December 2015.

The charity has helped 5,998 people directly with their advice and information needs, an increase of 34% on the same period year.

The trends in the amount of advice that the charity has been able to provide compared to the same period in 2014, was as follows:
