Honorary degree for former Exeter MP

Former city MP Ben Bradshaw thanked University of Exeter students for “all they have given the city” as he joined their graduation ceremony to be given his own honorary degree.

Sir Ben’s award was in recognition of public service, including his achievements to boost the quality of schools in Exeter, bring jobs to the city and his campaigning for LGBT rights.

During his 27 years as Exeter’s MP he worked to bring the Met Office to the city and worked closely with the University of Exeter and others in the community to bring about a huge school reorganisation and rebuilding...

A five-year-old boy from Exminster has come to the rescue after charity shop staff reported the theft of a giant toy giraffe from its shop window.

Little Theo heard how ‘Danny’ the giraffe was to be raffled off to raise funds at the Cancer Research UK shop in Exeter for Stand Up To Cancer, but thieves had stolen him one Saturday morning.

Young philanthropist Izzy Rutter, an 11-year-old from Exeter, recently accomplished an impressive 20-mile charity walk to raise money for InFocus Charity, based in Exeter.

InFocus Charity is dedicated to supporting young individuals with vision impairment and complex needs.

On 16th September 2023, Izzy embarked on her challenging journey, covering a 20-mile route from Exeter to Dawlish Warren and back, all in pursuit of her New Year resolution to raise £100 for a local charity.

An international team led by the University of Exeter has won a global prize for using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to harmonise the thresholds for what constitutes antibiotic resistance, which currently varies between continents.

A team led by Professor Robert Beardmore , at the University of Exeter, won an Innovation Award at the Vivli Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Data Challenge.
