East Devon District Council’s Countryside Team has been overwhelmed by the commitment and generosity of local volunteers.

Throughout 2015, they dedicated an astonishing 4,500 hours of service to the East Devon Countryside team, maintaining and preserving important nature reserves.

Cllr Iain Chubb, the council’s portfolio holder for the Environment, said: “Volunteers offer a range of skills and experience and are an invaluable resource to the Countryside team.

The pilot programme, which requires a minimum of 100 drivers, is being run in...

The Council agreed last year to set up the independent enterprise because it was the only way of protecting the youth service from further budget reductions.

It now plans to establish the mutual organisation, which will employ the service'...

The damage to the wall, which supports the highway, was reported to the County Council on 1st January and was assessed the same day by the on-call bridge inspector.

The area was fenced off and the site made safe and repairs got underway earlier this week.
