Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

Mary King MBE, multi medal winner for her equestrian achievements spanning three decades, is to become a Deputy Lieutenant of Devon.

New modern bus station is top of bus users wish list

Bus users in Exeter have welcomed the provision on a new, modern bus station with up-to-date facilities in the heart of the city centre.

That’s the general feeling according to feedback from a recent open forum attended by 650 people.

More than 550 feedback forms have already been returned to the City Council following the event at the Corn Exchange earlier in the month (3 March). Missing girl Zara Miles has been found safe and well in Thailand.

Zara was found two weeks ago and discussions are ongoing with authorities in Thailand about her welfare.

Devon and Cornwall Police, along with local authorities, launched an appeal to help them locate the missing 12-year-old Devon girl who had been taken to Bangkok by her father in November 2015.

A High Court Judge ordered the release of details of Arisara Miles, who is known as ‘Zara’, who travelled to Thailand with her father without permission.

‘Intelligent’ robotic boat makes maiden voyage

Researchers from the University of Exeter will be launching a boat with its own intelligence off the Scottish coast this week to test their pioneering software design that could revolutionise data collection at sea.
