Online consultation launched on North Devon Link Road improvements

Devon County Council has launched an online consultation on options for improving the North Devon Link Road.

The local authority is currently investigating options for upgrading the route, having been allocated £1.5 million from the Department for Transport to develop a business case over the next couple of financial years. This is in addition to the £1 million budget which the County Council had allocated for developing designs.

Devon and Cornwall Police are offering alternative contact methods rather than calling 101.

The summer months see a huge increase in visitor numbers and the police typically see a 35% increase in calls compared to the quietest times of the year. With the same number of call handlers year round, this extra demand inevitably can have an impact on call waiting times.

Exeter City Council is consulting on more temporary solutions for buses in the city centre for when the new bus station is built.

Woman arrested following assault in Tiverton

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on Lea Road, Tiverton.

The incident took place around 9.30pm on Friday 24th June opposite the entrance to the Tesco Express car park.

A confrontation took place between the occupants of a Red Volkswagon and a dark coloured Ford Mondeo on Lea Road. A 29-year-old man received minor injuries and a 42-year old woman was arrested and question in connection to this matter.

She has since been bailed until the 1st August pending further enquires.

Crackdown on beach hut crime in East Devon

East Devon District Council’s StreetScene team is taking positive steps towards cracking down on criminal damage to beach huts by proactively working with officers from the Seaton Neighbourhood Policing Team to inform beach hut owners on different ways to protect their huts.
