Exeter funeral home makes eggs-tra special donation

A funeral home in Exeter has helped bring Easter joy to the local community and children in need after donating 205 chocolate eggs and ‘bags of hope’.

The treats were gathered through a collection donation drive organised by the team at Co-op Funeralcare Exeter on Cowick Street, in St Thomas Shopping Centre, with some of the Easter eggs donated to children living in temporary accommodation in the city.

Car believed to be involved in fatal collision recovered from Exeter St David's car park

A car has been retrieved from Exeter St David's following a collision in which a woman was killed.

The fatal collision happened in Trewiston Lane, St Minver in Cornwall on Tuesday 19th July 2106 and an appeal was launched to locate the vehicle thought to be involved.

Police last night recovered a Landrover Defender, thought to be involved in the incident, from the car park of Exeter St David’s railway station for forensic examination.

Consultation on A30 improvement plans

A public consultation on proposals to improve the A30 near Honiton will be launched at the Honiton Show next month (August).

Devon County Council is developing route options for the scheme and will be holding a two month consultation, starting on Wednesday 3 August and running until Friday 30 September.

The Council is proposing to replace the existing narrow, substandard single carriageway in the Monkton area with around 8km (5 miles) of new road between the Honiton Bypass and Devonshire Inn (the junction of the A30 with the A303).

Traditional Devonshire cheesemakers, Quicke’s, have been inundated with awards at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show.

Both Quicke’s Vintage Cheddar and Oak Smoked Cheddar came first in class, Mature Cheddar came second in class, and their Goats’ Milk Cheese came third. Heatwave bad news for hot dogs

With temperatures in the high 20s this week, new research released from the Dogs Trust warns pet owners to be particularly cautious of the extreme risks of leaving dogs in hot cars, even for only a short period of time.

The vulnerable and elderly were today warned to take extra care as temperatures were expected to hit up to 31C.

Devon is in for another scorching day with wall to wall sunshine.

Hot weather can cause heat exhaustion in people and animals. Also, bacteria on food and rubbish develop more quickly in the heat.
