New Photography Project Gives Voice to Young People's Mental Health Experiences

A thought-provoking new photography project is set to bring to life the mental health challenges young people experience. Images from the project, called (in)visible, will be exhibited in venues across Exeter and East Devon from May to November this year.

The project aims to challenge the familiar but limiting ‘head in hands’ image often used to depict mental health struggles.

A major event organised by 307 Squadron Project will be taking place at Exeter’s Guildhall between 13-15 November 2023, to remember the Polish 307 Squadron. This night-fighter squadron was part of the RAF, who defended the South West of England during WW2. It prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942. The Heart of the South West LEP hosted their Annual General Meeting (AGM) via online webinar on Friday 13 October.

Look out for fly-tippers warning after bins used to dump building waste

People in Exeter are being urged to keep an eye out for instances of fly-tipping after three litter bins in the city were used to dump builder’s waste in, including what looks like used asbestos material.

The City Council said three litter bins in Burnthouse Lane had been sealed off, whilst a specialist asbestos removal company took the contents away.

The disposal costs are likely to be around £450.

Devon & Cornwall Police have been taking part in phase six of the South West's regional Operation Scorpion, after five successful phases.

Protests over Heavitree roadblocks

Noisy protesters outside Exeter’s historic Guildhall left city councillors in no doubt that feelings are still running high over roadblocks stopping traffic getting through Heavitree.
