Dementia UK shares the signs and symptoms of dementia to look out for ahead of free clinics in South West

Nationwide and Dementia UK’s free face-to-face clinics are returning to Nationwide’s Torquay, Plymouth and Exmouth branches this February, offering specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space for people to discuss any aspect of dementia.

Hosted by Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses, the clinics are open to anyone impacted by dementia, offering life-changing support to families and individuals in the area. Appointments can be booked via Dementia UK’s website here .

This October half term there will be plenty of spooky goings-on at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. With holiday hunts, pumpkin carving and plenty of family fun there is sure to be something for everyone.

Visitors to the Sanctuary during this half term (Monday 24 October – Sunday 30 October) can expect a range of spooktacular events, ready to get them in the trick-or-treating spirit.

Poll to find UK's favourite mammal

Almost two thirds of species in the UK have declined in the past 50 years, including some of the country’s most charismatic mammals. The Royal Society of Biology has launched a poll to discover the Favourite UK Mammal.

A total of 101 mammal species can be found in and around the UK. Some of these species have suffered serious declines and require increased conservation effort.

Three men punished for graffiti tags

Three men in their early 20s have been issued with conditional cautions as part of a Police and Council operation to crackdown on a growing problem of unsightly graffiti tags in Exeter.

Exeter Neighbourhood Policing Team are working closely with Exeter City Council to tackle the problem after an upsurge in tags being sprayed around the city.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is expressing its concern at an increase in the number of repossession cases listed at Exeter County Court in the six month period ending 30th September 2016. This is in comparison with the same period last year.

Across all housing sectors, there was an overall increase of 6% in the total number of cases listed. The Samaritans motto, It’s Good To Talk, became It’s Good To Squawk during Exeter’s Great West Run - all thanks to a supporter who ran dressed as a parrot.

Electrician Colin Bickerstaff raised £350 for the Exeter Mid and East Devon branch of the charity by completing the 13.1 mile course around the city centre on Sunday.

A turf cutting has been held to mark the recent start of improvements to the A379 Sandy Park Junction in Exeter
