Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Torquay which left a man critically injured.

Emergency services were called just before 2.30pm on Friday 4 November 2016 following the collision between a black Vauxall Agila, a grey Citroen Berlingo and a multi-coloured Mercedes skip lorry on Beechfield Avenue, Torquay.

RD&E hepatology team receive new scanner to help in the diagnosis of liver disease.

Patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital can now access a quick and pain-free scan to help diagnose liver disease thanks to a donation from the League of Friends and support from the Exeter Liver Patients Group.

The RD&E’s Hepatology team have just received a new Fibroscan, a machine which uses ultrasound based technology to assess fibrosis (scarring) of the liver. The quick and painless scan can be performed by a consultant or specialist nurse, reducing the need for more invasive procedures such as a liver biopsy.

Children having fun on electric Go-Kart rides in Princesshay this summer have raised over £700 for the local charity, Exeter Deaf Academy. Operators Go-Kart Party donated 10% of all takings throughout the summer to the Deaf Academy as part of the continued annual charity partnership.

Teignbridge helps make parking easy

Residents and visitors can now pay for parking by smartphone or card payments after Teignbridge District Council invested in the latest technology across its car parks.

Customers can now use cards and smartphone payment methods as a further convenient way to pay as well as paying by phone or using cash.

Work is also taking place to install 14 new machines in 11 car parks and upgrade 48 machines in the remaining 25 pay and display car parks across the district to allow payment by card, as well as cash at the machines.

Devon farmer pleads gulity to animal cruelty

An Okehampton farmer has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty following a prosecution brought by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Service (DSTSS).

Mr Leon Henry Smith, 67, of Castle Road, Okehampton, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Animal Welfare Act at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on 2 November 2016.

The offences were in relation to his treatment of sheep and poultry under his care.

A stunning photographic calendar for 2017 which captures the very essence of the East Devon countryside is now on sale.

The East Devon District Council’s Countryside team held a competition earlier this year inviting photographers of all ages and abilities – from beginners to professionals – to send in their best photos for the calendar. More than 150 entries were received, featuring beautiful views of the district.

Businesses situated within the cordon following the fire in Exeter city centre are being assisted by staff at the City Council.

Around 50 businesses attended a multi-agency meeting today to find out how best to move forward following the devastating events of last weekend.

Tributes have been paid to East Devon District Council Honorary Alderman Dr Bill Waterworth who has died recently.

Dr Waterworth, a former chairman of the council, was a councillor for East Devon for 16 years. He was elected in 1991 representing the Eden Vale ward until 2003 when boundary changes meant that his ward was then Coly Valley.

He served on a wide range of committees for the council and in many cases held positions of responsibility. He was vice chairman of the accounts committee from 1997 to 2001, and vice chairman of the finance and personnel committee from 1995...
