One of England’s first mathematics free schools has achieved the highest possible rating in its first Ofsted inspection, and has been rated Outstanding in all categories.

East Devon District Council is making eight changes in the way it provides financial help towards the council tax of residents who are on low incomes.

It’s the first time that the working-age Council Tax Support Scheme has been changed since it was introduced in 2013. The changes bring the scheme in line with the Government’s latest welfare reforms to housing benefits and Universal Credit and will also reduce the council’s administration costs.

Woodbury Park Golf Club Captains Daryn Hunt and Mickie Ward have raised £10,500 to help with the rehabilitation of stroke patients on Clyst Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

As 2016 Captains, the pair chose the acute stroke ward as their Captains’ Charity for the year, after Mickie’s husband Robert, also known as Sharky, spent time being cared for there in 2011 and 2012.

Plans for a new footbridge in Sidmouth to replace Alma Bridge have been drawn up by Devon County Council.

The County Council will be presenting its designs for a 22-metre span bridge to Sidmouth Town Council on Monday 6 March as it looks to conduct initial consultations with stakeholders, including East Devon District Council, South West Water and Environment Agency. The authority will also be carrying out investigation work early next month, with geotechnical inspections of the east cliffs being conducted at the potential location for the bridge.
