Christmas is just around the corner and where better to find unusual, unique gifts for your loved ones, friends and family than at a very special contemporary craft fair in Dartmoor’s most beautiful village?

Opening at 10am this Saturday, Wonderworks brings together craftspeople of distinction under one roof at Chagford’s Jubilee Hall, to show- case their beautiful creations which have been lovingly handmade.

This year celebrity BBC broadcaster Judi Spiers will be opening the event which will be raising money for Exeter-based Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a charity close to her heart.

27 exceptional artisans will be exhibiting a range of crafts at the show, including textiles, childrens’ clothes, ceramics, leather and metal work, stunning jewellery and handmade body products.

From Alexander Aurum’s exquisite silver rings to Adam Cornish’s turned beautiful wooden bowls there will be something for everyone at this year’s fair.

And you can try your hand at craft making too! Make your own Christmas decoration to take home, with a donation from each creation going to JDRF.

Organisers Abigail North and Alison West say: “This year we are really excited to be supporting JDRF, with a fundraising raffle of beautiful pieces donated by each of the 27 makers, raising funds and awareness of Type 1 diabetes. Alison and myself will also be offering a half day workshop experience - playing with clay - in return for a donation to JDRF.”

Wonderworks Contemporary Craft Fair is therefore a perfect opportunity not only to enjoy your Christmas shopping, far away from the bustle of the high street, with a positive plethora of unique and affordable gifts, but also your chance to ‘shop local’ , supporting the local artisan community, and donating to a charity which works to improve the lives of young people with Type 1 diabetes in the South West.

The Jubilee Hall has been host to wonderful Wonderworks for over a decade and it has become a gem in the Christmas build-up diary. With fantastic food, drinks and treats available on site throughout the weekend, it provides a magical, seasonal hub for shoppers and craftspeople alike.

The picturesque town of Chagford boasts a vibrant community offering an eclectic mix of pleasurable attractions including a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes and moorland walks. The current organisers of Wonderworks are Alison West and Abigail North, both Chagford-based potters who are dedicated to helping local makers showcase their works.
